What Is Reiki Healing?
What Is Reiki?
Reiki Healing is a holistic practice that originated in Japan and focuses on promoting healing, relaxation, and overall well-being by stimulating the body to heal itself. It is based on the belief that life energy flows through us and can be harnessed to support physical, mental, and emotional healing. During a Reiki session, a practitioner acts as a conduit for this energy, channeling it into the recipient's body and energy field.
What Happens During a Reiki Session?
A typical Reiki session begins with the recipient lying down or sitting comfortably, fully clothed. The practitioner places their hands lightly on or above specific areas of the body, following a systematic approach or intuitively guided by the recipient's needs. The energy is then transmitted through the practitioner's hands to the recipient.
During the session, recipients often experience a deep sense of relaxation and may feel warmth, tingling, or gentle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed. Some people also report a release of emotional or physical tension, as well as a reduction in pain and stress.
How Natalie's Sessions Are Unique
For in-person clients, Natalie often combines Reiki with crystal bowl sound healing. Sound bowls have been shown to increase mood, change brain waves from an agitated state into a delta or theta state, and induce deep states of relaxation.
Additionally, Natalie has studied regression, hypnosis, mindset work, shamanic journeying, and inner child healing. While you are in a delta or theta state, that is when your subconscious mind is the most susceptible to change and suggestions. Based on your goals and desired states of feeling, Natalie will help you visualize, affirm, and embody these changes.
The unconscious mind influences 90-95% of our behavior. By inducing these delta and theta states through Reiki and Sound Healing, we have direct access to communicate with, understand, and reprogram your subconscious mind for healing, balance, and supportive habits.
Who Is Reiki For?
Reiki can be beneficial to anyone as it is a gentle and non-invasive practice, so it does not involve any manipulation of the body or the use of substances. Additionally, if the client is uncomfortable with touch Reiki can be transmuted through space without the use of touch. It is considered safe and suitable for people of all ages and conditions.
Reiki supports healing on ALL levels... Physical, Mental, Emotional, and on a Spiritual Level.
The number of sessions required may vary depending on individual needs, and some individuals choose to receive regular Reiki treatments to maintain balance and well-being.
It is important to note that while many people find Reiki beneficial, it is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. It is best viewed as a complementary practice that can support and enhance overall wellness and wellbeing. If you have specific health concerns, it's always advisable to consult with a qualified healthcare professional.
What About The Science?
Peer reviewed studies have shown that Reiki can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, shift the body into a parasympathetic (relaxed state) and induce physical relaxation. In all referenced studies, the Reiki practitioners were measured against a control group and a "sham" Reiki practitioner. The "sham" held their hands in the same positions as the Reiki Practitioner, but was not trained in channeling the Reiki energy.
Additionally, the development of the SQUID Magnemeter has allowed us to detect tiny biomagnetic fields associated with physiological activities in the body. This is the field that sensitive people have been talking about for thousands of years.
In the early 1980’s, Dr. John Zimmerman began a series of important studies on therapeutic touch, using a SQUID magnetometer at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Zimmerman discovered that a huge pulsating biomagnetic field emanated from the hands of a trained practitioner. The frequency of the pulsations is not steady, but "sweeps" up and down, from 0.3 to 30 Hz (cycles per second), with most of the activity in the range of 7-8 Hz (Figure 2). The biomagnetic pulsations from the hands are in the same frequency range as brain waves and scientific studies of the frequencies necessary for healing indicate that they naturally sweep back and forth through the full range of therapeutic frequencies, thus being able to stimulate healing in any part of the body.
Confirmation of Zimmerman’s findings came in 1992, when Seto and colleagues, in Japan, studied practitioners of various martial arts and other healing methods. The "Qi emission" from the hands is so strong that they can be detected with a simple magnetometer consisting of two coils, of 80,000 turns of wire. Since then, a number of studies of QiGong practitioners have extended these investigations to the sound, light, and thermal fields emitted by healers. What is particularly interesting is that the pulsation frequency varies from moment to moment. Moreover, medical researchers developing pulsating magnetic field therapies are finding that these same frequencies are effective for ‘ jump starting’ healing in a variety of soft and hard tissues, even in patients unhealed for as long as 40 years. Specific frequencies stimulate the growth of nerves, bones, skin, capillaries, and ligaments. Of course Reiki practitioners and their patients have daily experiences of the healing process being "jump started," and academic medicine is now beginning to accept this therapy as logical and beneficial because of these new scientific findings.*
